TWO THOUSAND AND FUCKING THIRTEEN

Well, 2013 really kicked me in the butt, and showered me with hugs and kisses!

I had the opportunity to travel the world, work with some incredible people, and was completely inspired by new and old friends along the way. And to top it off, we were adopted by two very beautiful cats; Blackie “Sabbath” Boo and Yeti.

I am eternally grateful for the love and support from our family and friends, and are wishing you all the love in the world for 2014. I look forward to creating magic with you in the year ahead.

DC X WU TANG

In conjunction with the release of the DC x Wu-Tang 20 Year Anniversary Collection, which celebrates the anniversary of the groundbreaking album “Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers),” DC is proud to present, “STREETS & BOARDS & BEES & SWORDS,” a short film which follows the parallel stories of one album’s effect on the music and skate industries and the simultaneous launch of a brand onto the skate scene that forever changed footwear. The film is told through interviews with the icons that paved the way, and chronicles the common thread amongst underdogs and visionaries… Musicians, skateboarders and forward thinkers alike must believe in themselves and break the rules in order to change the world.

Directed by the handsome Kirk Dianda.

PSYCHO MUSIC VIDEO PRESS RELEASE: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Amber B Dianda presents the official music video for “Psycho” by The Shining Twins. Watch the punk duet perform their hit song on stage, while a few friends crash the party.

ABOUT THE MUSIC VIDEO:
Created by Amber B Dianda, the music video was inspired when a box of socks appeared at her front door courtesy of Stance socks. WithThe Shining Twins playing in her head, rather than putting the socks on her feet, Amber was inspired to make sock puppets instead… And so a music video was conceived.

Hand-sewn by Amber, the puppets were created to caricaturize Alex Weiss and Marisa Kreiss, aka The Shining Twins. But no band is complete without groupies to dance, drink, and run-a-muck. So when the stage was set, the band of merry pranksters joined in for the fun.

ABOUT THE SHINING TWINS:
The Shining Twins is an all-girl punk duet, starring Alex Weiss and Marisa Kreiss. “Pyscho” was one of the first songs they ever wrote and recorded on “Cum Play With Us” which was their inaugural album. The song recorded by heartthrob, Loren “Ted” Humphrey (Guards) at his studio in Bushwick, NY, with Alex on Bass and Marisa on drums. Both girls lend their voice on the raw and sinister lyrics about failed relationships, and losing your grip on reality.

ABOUT AMBER B AND KIRK DIANDA:
Amber B has been sewing creatures as long as she could thread a needle, and has since exhibited them around the world. From Australia, Austria, Japan, Los Angeles, New York, and most notably as a front window installation to Parisian boutique, Colette, Amber’s creatures have travelled the world.

Kirk Dianda is best known for his storytelling and filmmaking within the skateboard world. He recently edited “Dreamland” the internet sensation starring Bob Burnquist, along with “Soul Rebel” the Mark Appleyard video, Nyjah Huston’s gold-medal winning Real Street video part, and “Rise & Shine” the #1 iTunes video part. Historians may know Kirk for his long-standing involvement with 411VM, and for creating the cult classic; ON Video.

Amber and Kirk regularly collaborate on projects, ranging from product design to film and photo essays, but the “Psycho” music video will go down in history as their favorite co-op thus far.

ELEMENT EDEN FALL 13 VIBE VIDEO

The “Grow Young” collection combines the distinctive style of Element Eden with the unique vision of Jac Vanek. The short story follows a young girl who sheds her layers, becomes one with her dreams, and enters the unknown.

RAY BARBEE

Ray Barbee is one of the most gentle men you will ever meet. Under his quiet facade, you will uncover a passion for everything creative. This man can play music directly from his soul, skate like no other, and photograph images that capture the true persona of the person underneath… Watching Ray direct his creativity on a skateboard, through his guitar, and behind the lens will most definitely blow your mind.

Kirk and I had the chance to spend a day with Ray playing music, skating the neighborhood, and developing in the dark room as he processed endless rolls of film from past travels and explorations.

Check out the video created by the handsome Kirk Dianda, and my images and footage from the shoot below.

I MISS YOU BEAU VELASCO

“I Miss You Beau Velasco” from The Death Set on Vimeo.

It’s the little things i miss about Beau Velasco… Walking the streets of NYC with you. Laughing about silly things like imaginary creatures you’d make up and how much you loved animals, usually the dorky ones that no one else would love.

It’s been years in the making, but the video for “I Miss You Beau Velasco” off “The Death Set” record “Michel Poiccard” is finally complete and I feel very honored to be a part of an amazing collaboration. So much love for you BV, we really do miss you.

“It would be impossible to make a video that would completely encapsulate our love for our lost band mate and friend Beau Velasco. He was an inspiration to us and to so many.
The process was extremely difficult, yet one we had to embark upon. It is very important to us that he be remembered. We asked as many people as possible that were close to Beau if they would like to appear in the video. So many friends and family from all over the world took part; from The Gold Coast and Sydney, Australia to Los Angeles, Baltimore and New York City.” – The Death Set

Some of the artists and musicians you may recognize include Spank Rock, XXXChange, Santigold, Japanther, Best Fwends, Roofeeo (TV on the Radio / The Death Set), High Places, Dan Deacon, Trouble Andrew and Vice Cooler (XBRX).

ELEMENT TWS SKATE & CREATE 2013

Every year Transworld holds a competition called Skate & Create. This year Element Skateboards was invited to partake, and my handsome husband, Kirk DiAnda wrote and directed the piece.

Featuring the Element team; Boo Johnson, Chad Muska, Chad Tim Tim, Chase Webb, Ethan Loy, Evan Smith, Levi Brown, Madars Apse, Mark Appleyard, Nassim Guammaz, Nyjah Huston, andTom Schaar, with special appearances by Ray Barbee and Johnny Schillereff. Each team had to create a 5 minute video in the span of a week. They are provided a photographer, (Oliver Barton) and two builders to create any skate obstacle they needed.

The concept was to show skateboarding through snapshots of the times, creating a mini documentary. I took a satirical route with the concept and direction, loosely paying homage to the icons, fashion, and design that defined how we got here today. Ultimately, I wanted to commend skateboarders for their creativity and individuality. Since day one, we’ve been inventors that see the world differently, and that gene has been passed down from generation, to generation. The entire piece is strung together with a narrative by Chad Muska, told in the first-perosn perspecitve. I wanted to give that sencse of the narrator telling the stories of his generation, almost like a Forrest Gump-esque walk down memory lane. It’s meant to be humorous but has a sense of truth to it, too.“—Kirk Dianda

Here are some behind the scenes photos I shot while on set. Also check out the magazine article here with an amzing photo spread by Oliver Barton.

Filmed by Ryan Young and Mark Stewart. Edited by Kirk Dianda and Mark Stewart. Narrated by Chad Muska. Original soundtrack by Loren Humphrey, and Muskabeatz courtesy of Chad Muska.
