Throughout 2009, Kirk Dianda filmed and edited MAKE IT COUNT, The Element Story. The documentary is a four-part series, that tells the story of the iconic brand and the people that helped shape what it is today.
Element also released a 200-page photo book, which included a DVD of the film too, which sold out almost immediately. But if you missed it, FUEL TV will be airing the film as a 4-part series… Tune in, and check it out.
Throughout the production process, I was lucky enough to travel with Kirk while he interviewed this collection of truly inspiring people and shoot behind the scenes photos.
Mike Kershnar is a prolific and provocative creative. We recently spent some time with him up at the Element YMCA Skate Camp, where he co-founded Elemental Awareness, and was also a counselor. During our recent visit, he was painting a canvas on the side of the skate bowl, and it was a truly an inspiring experience to watch him paint.
Here are a collection of photos I shot of Kershnar in his studio in San Francisco, circa 2009.
Check out Kershnar’s website here.
In honor of the launch of the MAKE IT COUNT series on Fuel TV, I will be posting a photo series of pictures of the interviewees and their surroundings. Keep your ear to the ground for more posts of the following inspiring people.
