Once upon a time…

This is the trailer for “Eden”, a short-film that captures the story of Element’s women’s apparel brand and the family behind it.

I co-directed the film with my husband, Kirk Dianda. Together, we shot and edited the piece over the course of two years, as we documented all the products and personalities behind the brand. To string the story along, I created a set of handmade stop-motion animations, that not only help tell the story of Eden, but also represent the brand’s quirky personality, while detailing creativity and fashion.

Short film available on December 1st.

2011 MAKE IT COUNT FINALS

Julian Christenson was the overall winner of the 2011 MAKE IT COUNT Contest Series, which took place at the Element YMCA Skate Camp in Sequoia, California.
The skating was insane and the scenery was beautiful. It is incredible to believe all these kids are un-sponsored and skating at this level.

Check out the portraits I shot of all the contestants here.

MR ANCHOR

Hello Family & Friends,

I have been working around the clock for my SUMMERWINTER exhibition which opens in LA on Friday, July 16th. Everything is coming together beautifully, and I can’t wait to show you all what I have created!

Kirk has been working on a beautiful short film that narrates the story of the art show, and it’s set to a soundtrack composed by Loren Humphrey.

I would also like to thank all the amazing people who have helped in preparation for this exhibition:

Jeremy Mora for his beautiful gallery; POVevolving, Todd Rogers for sound engineering, Matt Tammariello for sound effects, Loren Humphrey for the soundtrack, Luis Ramirez for printing help, Honest Tea and PBR for the drinks, Nylon TV for the coverage, and a very special thank you to Element for all your love and support!

Our goal is to raise $500 for Elemental Awareness, which is an organization that reaches out to under-privileged kids through skateboarding and wilderness skills. I created a limited edition of 10 hand-sewn, hand-screened totes that are packed with goodies from our sponsors, and will be sold to raise money for EA.

Inside each tote is an AB zine from the exhibition, an organic Element T-shirt, and an Element Eden wallet, along with stickers, Honest Tea drinks, and a copy of Nylon… So the first ten people to donate $50 will recieve one of these limited edition, hand made, gift bags.

I will also be launching a special line of ombré dyed scarves, which are grade 50, 100% Cheese cloth that will thread the exhibition together by combining black and white, to make grey.

New ‘zines are hot of the press, and will also be available! (If you’re a self-publisher & zine fan, bring yours to the show and we’ll swap!)

Lastly, check out this interview by Isaac McKay-Randozzi from Juxtapoz!

Thank you, and I hope to see you there!

MEDIA RELEASE

SUMMERWINTER was born after my Autumn inspired show at colette in Paris, the natural progression was to explore other seasons. So about a year ago, I started observe the dance between the northern and southern hemispheres, and how opposites attract. I love the idea that one can not exist without the other. So in the end, it was the idea of all things opposite, and how they are also the same that inspired me… Black and white.

For this show I took a minimalist approach, which was inspired by my husband. I have always been about color, but in this show I kept it black, white, and grey. Along with my sewn creatures, I created a limited edition ombré dyed scarf made especially for the show. It is a symbol of black and white, which becomes one; grey.

My husband and I are also working on a short film that will be shown at the exhibition which is set to a soundtrack composed by Loren Humphrey. The entire show centers around a love story between Summer and Winter, and even though they live on opposite sides of the world, they fall in love, and continue their seasonal dance of love for eternity.
